We love to do something special for breakfasts over the weekends and this South African crumpet recipe is my go-to every weekend. It’s delicious, its fluffy and you can use your imagination to create some delicious varieties of toppings. My family LOVES this crumpet recipe! It’s super easy to make and it never dissapoints!

This recepe gives you around 30 crumpets, perfect for a family of four.

As an extra bit of insight, you can freeze these crumpets for up to 3 months.

Sourdough Crumpets Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Cinnamon to taste

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Bake in a pre-heated pan with oil or butter.
